How To File A Complaint About Secondhand Smoke
If you are being exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke
at work or in other places you visit, in most cases you can do something about
it.
First, complain to a supervisor or manager. Tell them
that no one should have to breathe tobacco smoke in order to hold a job or
participate in a public activity. Many business owners would appreciate the
opportunity to correct the situation before it becomes a larger problem.
If you cannot resolve the problem with the business,
you can file a complaint with your
local county health department.
Describe the problem in detail or file a written complaint on the appropriate
forms. Signing the complaint and giving your phone number allows health
department officials to contact you if more information is needed. Complaint
sources are confidential and will not be revealed.
Fill out our
complaint form (PDF) .
Just print it and mail or fax to your local health department. Click here for a

If your county health department does not have a clean indoor air
regulation, consider contacting your board of health about developing one. The
Smoke-free Initiative of WV can help you create or find a smoke-free coalition
in your county.
